Fighting for talent in a competitive job market

Panellists for HR magazine's upcoming Lunchtime Debate, fighting for talent in a competitive job market, have been announced.

On Thursday 29 July HR magazine editor Jo Gallacher will be joined by Catherine Schlieben, chief people officer for talent at National Grid; Shereen Daniels, managing director of HR Rewired; Rita Trehan, founder and CEO of Dare Worldwide and Jonathan Schipper, global talent management lead at DSM.

Schlieben is responsible for the company and National Grid Ventures' strategy across talent acquisition, talent development and defining leadership behaviours and capabilities.

She will will join the other panellists in discussing why employers are struggling to hire the best people or in fact hire fast enough. 

Schlieben will be joined by Daniels, who in addition to her position are consultancy HR Rewired, is vice chair of the Black Business Association for London Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The panel will also discuss why employers must consider hybrid and remote options for every role, and the importance of diversity and inclusion in every business decision, plus how to implement this. 

Dare Worldwide's Trehan will help to advise on transformation strategy, given her role on challenging the c-suite to rethink leadership, and redesign work to elevate business performance.

Trehan is also the author of Unleashing CapacityStake in the Game, and Too Proud to Lead and was previously chief people officer at AGL Energy and the AES Corporation.

Retention will also be a key theme within the panel, whereby DSM's Schipper will talk through using AI to search for the best talent and upskill current employees, with some unexpected results. 

The HR Lunchtime Debate is in partnership with Eightfold and will be held on 29 July at 12:30 BST.
