Grant Thornton trainees blog what it's like to work for the company

Grant Thornton has launched for trainees to tell job seekers what it is like to work at the accountancy firm, as part of its 'Telling it like it is' campaign.

The microsite ‘Spilling The Beans’ was launched at the beginning of the new graduate intake and so far has had over 1000 visits, reaching out to a global market of talent from countries including Pakistan, Australia and Egypt.

Spilling the beans has been developed entirely by a group of Grant Thornton trainees as part of the firm's social media strategy and aims to inform potential future hires about life as a trainee at the firm.

Part of the microsite includes a blog which is run by a team of six trainees and the content of which is not edited or controlled by management. It has been key to this project  to empower and trust our trainees early on in their careers by giving them the responsibility to use the firm's brand and communicate in an engaging way to the graduate and school leaver market.

Maria Floud, graduate recruitment manager at Grant Thornton, said: "The aim of establishing a microsite specifically for our trainees is to establish a two way communication on what it's like to work at the firm.

"We want our trainees to tell it like it is, and give them the responsibility early on in their career to create and deliver this element of our social media strategy. They have been given ownership of using the firm's brand and been able to meet this new strategy and present to senior members of the firm including the CEO. Feedback so far has shown that this has enabled our trainees to really understand our firm and strategy."

The microsite also offers the opportunity to sign up to the Grant Thornton recruitment page on Facebook, which has acquired just under 150 fans since launching.

The Facebook page allows for an open and lively discussion on the experiences of our current trainees and interns, including the recent Graduate induction.
