Mitie launches its first diversity week

Mitie has launched its first Diversity Week running from the 7th -11th March.

The week of events includes presentations from board level executives such as MITIE's Chief Executive Officer Ruby McGregor-Smith.

Other highlights throughout the week include a supplier forum with 100 Mitie suppliers and two "Girls in Construction Days" hosted by Mitie skill centre schools, Fred Longworth High School in Manchester and Castle Vale school in Birmingham where fourteen year old girls learn practical skills such as plumbing and plastering.

There are also a number of forums being hosted by internal and external speakers on diversity issues such as sexuality, becoming 'disability confident' and progressing up the career ladder as an ethnic minority.

Diversity week is accessible to all MITIE employees who can take part in 21 events throughout the week, which are being hosted in offices across the country.

The aim of the event is to raise awareness of diversity and equality issues and to educate employees on the importance of diversity and how it affects every member of staff and clients.
