The light at the end of the tunnel
Following successful trial, UK health secretary Matt Hancock states that the NHS will start providing the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine within the year, with widespread rollout scheduled for 2021.
Leaders of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales also agree to permitting up to three households at a time to mix indoors as a part of a Christmas bubble between 23 and 27 December.
Prime minister Boris Johnson also announces government’s COVID-19 Winter Plan which includes lifting lockdown in England from 2 December, and returning to a new, stricter, tier system.
CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition
CIPD ACE is held virtually for the first time including keynotes from journalist and author Reni Eddo-Lodge, Josh Bersin and Megan Reitz, professor of leadership and dialogue at Hult Ashridge Executive Education.
The CIPD’s quarterly Labour Market Outlook report also finds that more stability could be in sight for employment.
The Fawcett Society reported that the mean gender pay gap for all employees, not just those working full-time decreased for 2020, though a fall in the number of employers reporting pay gap data this year could have masked the true rate of pay disparity.
