Why your diversity strategy might not be working

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) have been on the HR radar for years, but the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 meant it immediately became a priority for businesses. And rightly so.

HR professionals were asked to improve the diversity of their workforce- and fast.

Many organisations set public targets, launched working groups and vowed to change their recruitment strategies, all in the name of improving DEI.

However, there is no magic formula, and three years later, many organisations are not seeing the change they had hoped for.

Employee engagement specialists Culture Amp sought the views of HR leaders and employees in the UK, US, Canada, Germany and Netherlands to gauge how organisations are faring with DEI.

And UK firms come rock bottom, according to employees, in terms of demonstrating equitable treatment of people from all backgrounds.

This interactive infographic looks to explore where HR could be going wrong with its DEI strategy, and what improvements can be made in the short and long term to create a fairer workplace for all.
