HRMI 2022: Vicky Wallis, chief people officer, Direct Line Group

Vicky Wallis joined Direct Line Group as chief people officer in April 2020 where she is responsible for developing and driving the people agenda enabling a dynamic, inclusive workplace, where people can collaborate, grow, and thrive.

Wallis is passionate about ensuring organisations provide interesting and stretching work opportunities for people from all backgrounds and creating cultures that enable everyone to thrive and fulfil their potential. 

She sees the continuous evolution of skills as a critical part of the HR agenda to ensure colleagues are equipped to succeed in the rapidly changing world of work.

Wallis has extensive experience in building HR functions, developing cultural frameworks and enhancing people capabilities. She has held global roles in international organisations, leading projects in India as well as EMEA and the US.

She previously held the role of HR director at Santander then RBS. At the latter she partnered the business through unprecedented levels of change in their capital resolution and non-core divisions. 

While running her own HR consultancy Wallis provided expert counsel to a wide range of companies including EDF Trading, Lloyds Pharmacy and Vodafone. She is CIPD qualified and has a master’s degree in organisational leadership.
