HRMI 2022: Sally Austin, chief people officer, Wincanton

Sally Austin joined Wincanton in August 2019 as chief people officer and a member of the executive management team.

In her time at Wincanton so far, she has designed and implemented a new people strategy, co-led a major transformational change programme, implemented a new business operating model across the group and has driven considerable progress with its diversity and inclusion strategy.

Austin was previously the group HR director at Costain Group, a British technology-based construction and engineering company, where she held a variety of HR roles and became group HR director in 2014.

Prior to Costain, she began her career in HR at BAE Systems followed by CooperVision then Eaton Corporation where she held several HR management roles across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Externally Austin is the chair of the Warwick Independent Schools Foundation.
