He is the author of Thrive In The Future of Work and a regular contributor to HR and business publications on future of work trends and the practical implications for organisations and their people.
A former partner and director of Willis Towers Watson and head of its HR consulting practice in Ireland, Empey is also the director of the senior leadership programme in the Irish Management Institute. He has received several national and international awards for his contributions to future of work research, social entrepreneurship and employment and labour policy.
A former CIPD National Council member, he was a member of the Irish Government’s Labour Market Council and the founder of Worklink, an internationally recognised not for profit, coaching and mentoring organisation set up to help unemployed jobseekers into full time employment.
In 2014 he was the first individual recipient in the UK and Ireland of CIPD’s PACE Awards in recognition of his voluntary contribution to the HR profession and to employment activation.
