HRMI 2022: Harvey Francis, executive vice president and chief HR officer, Skanska UK 

Harvey Francis is executive vice president and chief people officer at Skanska UK, a role he has held since 2008.  

He joined Skanska in 2007, having previously held senior HR and operational roles at Pfizer and BT. 

Francis is a member of both Skanska UK’s executive management team and plc board and reports to the CEO. 

He is responsible for all elements of the people agenda and is passionate about creating an inclusive culture where people and organisations come together for mutual benefit.  He also has responsibility for communications and workplace. 

Francis spent the early part of his career in retail management with House of Fraser, Virgin Group and BT, prior to moving into HR. 

His primary focus for the past 12 months has been on designing and implementing the response to Skanska’s Your Lived Experience inclusion study, which is designed to help Skanska take a big leap forward in its inclusive approach to culture. 

He has also overseen the design and planning for a new Skanska HQ at Leavesden, designed to reflect the changes to working styles as a result of the pandemic, and due to open in September 2022. 

Harvey Francis has ranked multiple times on the HR Most Influential list for his continued contributions to the profession and therefore earned his spot in the Hall of Fame in 2022.
