Smith will take responsibility for the strategic leadership of Wolseley's HR function across the company's UK businesses.
She joins from security firm G4S, where she was HR director for the UK & Ireland. Before that she held HRD roles at Stansted Airport and Heathrow Express (both under the British Airports Authority). She has also worked in senior HR roles for National Grid and Inchcape.
Smith succeeds Karen Finn, who left the position in February 2014 to take up the role of director of people and operational strategy at Wolseley Plc, Wolseley UK's parent company.
Commenting on Smith's appointment, Wolseley UK managing director Steve Ashmore said Smith's experience and skills would be "invaluable in driving our people plan during the next phase of Wolseley UK’s growth agenda".
