High-flying females still paid less

Female executives continue to be paid 37% less than their male counterparts.

According to figures from The Route City wealth club, the differences between men and women in the legal and management consultancy sectors can be as much as 59%. In finance the pay gap is 30% less than men.

The report found the only way women earn more than men was if they are self-employed. Here they earn 7% more on average.

Mark Worrall, managing director of The Route City wealth club, said: "Even when you are at the top of your career, your salary can still be affected by your sex. Some of the disparity between the two genders may be due to the fact that women have shorter careers but this is unlikely to account for the 59% salary gaps that we see in the legal and management consultancy professions."
