Glassdoor announces its Top 50 UK Best Places to Work 2023

Glassdoor has announced its top UK companies to work for, with management consultants Bain & Company topping the list for the first time, followed by software provider ServiceNow and Google.

Despite 13 newcomers and 13 industries represented, tech companies still dominated Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards, which forms the Best Places to Work 2023 list across the UK and four other countries.

The awards rank companies based on employee feedback of key workplace attributes including career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values, diversity and inclusion, opinion of senior management, and work/life balance.

Glassdoor research revealed employee discussion around cost of living and inflation has jumped 297% in the last 12 months, with mentions of recession having soared 804%.

Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong said the list demonstrates employers are still hyper-focused on creating outstanding employee experiences.

He said: “It's encouraging to see companies doubling down on employee mental health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, competitive benefits and flexible work environments as we head into 2023.”

A quarter of the employers are newcomers to the UK list, including the Office for National Statistics, Heathrow Airport and Equinix.

Sam Beckett, second permanent secretary at the ONS, said: “This award is a fantastic achievement for us as an organisation, and a real testament to the loyalty and commitment of all our staff, whose contributions, skills and knowledge are truly valued here at the ONS.

“It reflects the work that we’ve done over the past few years to make the organisation fully inclusive, and we will continue to build on this amazing foundation to ensure that the ONS remains a brilliant place to deliver work that really matters to the UK.”
