Glassdoor announces best employer list

Who are the best employers in the UK?

Google has beaten John Lewis and Microsoft to land the title of best employer in the UK, as voted for anonymously by employees, in the inaugural Glassdoor Best Places to Work List (UK).

The rankings are based on employee feedback curated by Glassdoor and converted into a score out of five for employee satisfaction.

Google came out on top with a rating of 4.4, followed by John Lewis with 4.3 and Microsoft on 4.1. Other big names in the top 25 listing include Harrods and Rolls-Royce (12th and 13th respectively).

Categories respondents were asked to evaluate their employers on include culture and values, work/life balance, whether they would recommend it to a friend and the business outlook for the upcoming six months.

Glassdoor CEO and co-founder Robert Hohman said the company is looking to “honour employers who stand out in their efforts to provide an enjoyable work environment and culture”.
