Wellness rises up corporate agenda

Health and wellbeing is rising up the business agenda, with companies thinking about it more strategically, according to a report by the Corporate Research Forum.

The author of the report, EmployeeHealth and Wellbeing – whose responsibility is it?, Gillian Pillans said one-third of companies she spoke to were developing a wellbeing strategy, while more were revisiting an existing one.

“Organisations are thinking more strategically about this and how it connects to other areas like employee value proposition,” she said.

She added companies were also thinking more holistically about wellbeing, focusing on the “whole person” and engaging families.

Wellbeing strategies must be evidence-based and not “random acts of wellness”, Pillans said. “Actions must be co-ordinated and consistent.”
