Top HR career tip: have a passion

ARM's Kirsty Gill spoke at the HR Future Leaders Forum 2016 about the importance of passion in progressing an HR career

Wondering how to reach the next stage of your career? According to the speakers at our HR Future Leaders Forum 2016, the key could be passion.

HR professionals should pick a specific topic or aspect of the function they have a deep passion for and immerse themselves in it, Kirsty Gill, VP OE and reward for ARM said.

Valerie Hughes D'Aeth, HRD for the BBC, suggested that you never lose the hunger to learn. "Life is a long learning journey," she said. "It's important to take every opportunity."

Neil Morrison, group HR director for Penguin Random House, UK and international, said that you should never stop asking questions. "Try to find out how things work," he suggested.

Jeremy Campbell, chief people officer of Ceridian, advised that you should find your purpose. "Be passionate about that one thing," he said. "Make sure that's what you go after."
