Questions over Woolworths HR boss's departure

Woolworths head of HR, Claire Tiney, has left the retailer amid reports she was made redundant.

According to Retail Week, Tiney, who joined the firm in February, left last week and will not be replaced.

A spokeswoman from Woolworths said: "I can confirm Claire Tiney has left, but at this stage I cannot give any more information."

The news comes as Woolworths embarks on a major management restructure following a bleak year in which it lost 70% of its share value.

Last week Sir Alan Sugar attempted - and failed - to buy a 3.88% stake in the company.
