According to Retail Week, Tiney, who joined the firm in February, left last week and will not be replaced.
A spokeswoman from Woolworths said: "I can confirm Claire Tiney has left, but at this stage I cannot give any more information."
The news comes as Woolworths embarks on a major management restructure following a bleak year in which it lost 70% of its share value.
Last week Sir Alan Sugar attempted - and failed - to buy a 3.88% stake in the company.
