KFC's online recruitment assessment is a big time-saver for managers

KFC has saved its managers 16.2 years in man-hours following the implementation of its online recruitment system.

 

The system, which has been tested in 100 of the restaurant chain's 750 stores in the UK and Ireland, has received 95,488 applications since the start of 2009.

The system allows applicants to complete an assessment so managers only have to view those who have scored highly - and choose from the best 25,650 applicants.

Jobseekers applying for a role in a store that has no vacancies can also see opportunities at other branches.

Dan Hayward, KFC's head of recruitment, commented: "We are delighted with the huge volume of applications to our online system, especially as the system hasn't even been fully rolled-out yet. However, the numbers are not the whole story - in this recession we are much more interested in ensuring we get the best talent from the pool available.

"A business like ours lives or dies on the customer service we can provide, and the quality and skills of our people are the key to delivering a great customer experience. By providing online competency tests and helping managers focus on the most promising applicants, the system helps KFC find and hire the cream of the crop."
