Evans puts its job cycle online

Bike retailer Evans Cycles has launched an online system to streamline its recruitment process.

Evans Cycles enlisted the services of software provider Candidate Manager after seeing an increase in the number of overall applications to its business. With 43 stores and 860 staff, Evans Cycles typically posts up to 250 job advertisements per year.

It is hoped the system will also allow the company to easily identify the most suitable applicants and store their information in a database which can also be referred to for future roles that arise within the company, thereby eliminating the additional advertising spend traditionally incurred. George Lee, head of training and recruitment, Evans Cycles, said: "Our initial objective was to streamline our administrative procedures in order to select the most appropriate candidate from the large volume of applications we receive.

"This has enabled us to identify the highest calibre of applicants and thereby eliminate the need to re-advertise positions time and time again. In the long term, we can look forward to seeing a significant increase in staff productivity, a higher retention of staff and a considerable reduction in the length of the recruitment process, in order to focus on our core business objectives."
