Increased flexible working would help women climb to the top

Female business leaders claim it is time to 'get rid of the boys' club in business and push more flexible working policies to increase female leadership.

IT jobs board Womenintechnology asked female leaders what organisations could do to increase the number of female leaders and 93% agreed that men and women's leadership styles were not the same.

Respondents called for the discouragement of female stereotypes and more awareness of what women can bring to the board. Other popular suggestions included more flexible working, more coaching and cultural change within organisations.

Maggie Berry, director of Womenintechnology, said. "The business world definitely needs to learn that women and men are different but that having these different skills on board is actually beneficial to them.

"If more of these suggestions were implemented, then we'd see more women climbing the ranks - this would lead to more female role models to encourage women to strive for the top."
