But despite working from strange places, routines remain important to home workers, with 36% taking tea breaks at the same time and 35% starting work at the same time each day. However, only one-third of respondents say they always shower before starting work.
The survey of 1,000 UK office workers also suggested that flexible working could ameliorate the painful absence of pay rises, with 78% of respondents saying they wanted a more flexible work schedule to boost job satisfaction in the absence of pay rises. In addition, the majority of respondents (68%) would like to be able to work from home, while 50% would prefer to travel less for work.
“The findings show that flexible working policies can satisfy employees seeking a work-life balance,” said Holger Felgner, general manager at TeamViewer.
However, there is a big disconnect between what office workers would like and what they are getting. According to the results, 43% of respondents either never or rarely work from home.
To make working from home easier and more productive, 55% of respondents said they would like faster connectivity, 51% wanted access to all their documents as if they were in the office and 33% would like employers to contribute to utility bills.
