HRD Neil Morrison: "Sitting in the HR department bitching is not going to change anything"

For HR to be more effective it needs "to be more human", says Neil Morrison, HR director of publishers, Random House.

He continued: "We need to get out and talk, interact, spend time with people, we need to be empathetic and understanding, we need to feel. Sitting in the HR department bitching is not going to change anything."

Morrison discusses his 10-point agenda for change in HR in an article on his influential, Change-Effect blog.

We agree, and that is why we have launched HR Talks, a new forum to enable this kind of interaction. Taking place on February 7 in central London, it will be full of creative and innovative ideas and ways of collaborative working to take back to your business.

With fantastic speakers - all of whom are practicing HR directors - plus a head-to-head on creativity and innovation by Professor Adrian Furnham from University College London and Dr Benjamin Reid from the Work Foundation (followed by a workshop in creating a culture of innovation in your organisation), it looks to be an engaging and inspiring day.

Don't miss out - book by the end of tomorrow (25 January) to receive a £100 discount.
