Health charity Mind embeds inclusion into recruitment strategy

Mental health charity Mind is to ensure an inclusive approach is embedded in its recruitment process, by signing up to become ‘ClearAssured’.

Mind works with around 250,000 people every year and is keen to remove any unconscious bias facing disabled people from its recruitment process, by working with inclusion specialists, The Clear Company.

Matthew Page, head of HR at Mind said: "I am pleased to confirm Mind has committed to undergo the ClearAssured assessment of our recruitment practice and are working towards optimising our inclusive approach towards candidates."

The announcement follows the news released yesterday, on World Mental Health Day, that England's most ambitious programme to end mental health stigma and discrimination - Time to Change - is to receive £16 million from the department of health and £4 million from Comic Relief to continue its work until March 2015.

Mark Boulding, head of development at Mind, added: "Time to Change will be working with the Clear Company to help employers treat people with mental health problems fairly and with respect, enhancing the talent, morale and productivity of their workforce."
