Councils in Clyde Valley are working with Brightwave to implement an online training solution, designed do drive efficiency and develop best practice for Scottish local government.
The training modules will be ready for use by 2010 and will incorporate self-authored programmes by each council, customisable, off-the-shelf programmes and bespoke modules.
The decision follows the successful implementation of an e-learning solution at Glasgow City Council, which provided an online learning platform for 37,000 employees whereby the council took control of the design, delivery, tracking and management of its training.
Gerry Farrell, project manager for Clyde Valley Learning and Development Group, which covers the eight councils, said: "Following a detailed tender process, [we made this decision] to ensure we could meet our vision of delivering consistent and cost-effective online training for all Clyde Valley staff."
