CERN launches automated video interviewing to recruit talent internationally

Scientific research centre, CERN, has launched an automated video interviewing tool to reduce recruitment delays and the costs associated with the sourcing of candidates from its 20 European Member States.

From Nobel Prize winning physics to the invention of the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989, CERN's goal of pure research continues to contribute to science and technology.

Working with technology provider Sonru CERN's recruitment team will manage the screening of applicants from a geographically diverse base through their secure video interview solution.

James Purvis, head of recruitment, programmes & monitoring group at CERN, said: "We initially trialled the product on one particular post and used it to screen candidates in Greece, Canada, France, Switzerland and the UK Since then, we've made the decision to use Sonru on any post in CERN where communication / interpersonal skills are an important requirement.

"Additionally the system accommodated CERN's two official languages - English and French. With a 100% response rate and absolutely no negative feedback from candidates and huge buy-in from the hiring team, Sonru is certainly the way forward for CERN."
