Accor workforce gains official recognition for their CSR activities

Accor Services UK employees have been officially recognised for their commitment to the environment with the ISO 14001 accreditation.

Accor Services' CSR strategy and activities are owned and driven by employees - a key factor that ensures its people are highly engaged to take the company's green agenda to heart.

Over the past few years employees have been involved with activities ranging from payroll giving and recycling through to participation in regular community events.

In 2009 more than 150 man-days were deployed on environmental and local community projects including tree planting with children and river cleaning.

And in 2010 employees from across the business have been invited to participate in a wide range of activities to support their partnership with Action for Children - the charity that supports and speaks out for the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK.

Patrick Langlois, managing director of Accor Services UK, comments: "A vast amount of hard work has been carried out since May 2009 to achieve this high standard and we are delighted to be awarded with it today, especially since it covers our three offices through the UK. As part of our global corporate social responsibility strategy and commitment we pride ourselves on being a responsible, dedicated organisation that gives back to our local communities, as well as one that sets out, follows and believes in a demanding set of business and environmental ethics.

"We have a number of CSR programmes currently under way and are constantly supporting and improving our efforts to reduce the organisation's carbon footprint, recycle more efficiently, improve energy efficiency and source suppliers with sustainable ways of working. Achieving the ISO 140001 standard proves our commitment to this strategy and is another step towards fully meeting our CSR commitment," adds Langlois.
