10Eighty chief executive Michael Moran on HR's ability to lead business

Michael Moran (pictured right), chief executive and founder of career development company 10Eighty, believes for HR to start leading the business, it must "truly understand" what drives competitive advantage.

Moran said it's a "great time" to be in HR at the moment, but also "the worst time" because of how much it is expected to deliver.

"It's not just enough to be a good practitioner, you have to understand the business," he said. "Therefore business insight, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking all come to the fore."

Moran was speaking to HR magazine at the 2013 HR most Influential Awards. 10Eighty was a headline sponsor of the event.
