UNICEF and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have issued a joint statement emphasising the need for greater breastfeeding support at work during World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August 2023).

New research has found one in 61 pregnant women said their boss had suggested they terminate their pregnancy, according to charity Pregnant Then Screwed (PTS).

New parents are increasingly getting most of the support they need from employers, but support for breastfeeding is still low on the priority list.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has updated its guidance for employers of pregnant women or new mothers.
