Mandy Coalter, HR director, United Learning

Coalter joined United Learning in 2012 having previously worked in the public and voluntary sectors

United Learning is one of the largest charities in the UK, running nearly 60 state and independent schools. Since joining United Learning Coalter has developed a five-year people strategy, taking forward key priorities such as managing growth, developing leaders, talent management, employee engagement, wellbeing, recruitment and new approaches to pay and performance management.

United Learning won the HR Excellence Award for employee engagement in 2016. Coalter and her team also won the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development ‘HR Team of the Year’ in the public/third sector in 2016. HR magazine listed her as one of its HR Most Influential in the not for profit sector category in both 2015 and 2016.

Since 2016 Coalter has been a trustee/director for the Diocese of Coventry Multi-Academy Trust. She is also a lay member of the University of Sheffield HR committee. From 2012 to 2016 she was an independent member of the regional Appointments Committee for The National Trust in the Midlands.

Coalter is a law graduate, a fellow of the CIPD, and a trained executive coach (ILM7).
