Geoff Tranfield, group HR director, IMI

Geoff Tranfield has worked in HR for almost 30 years, in a variety of industries including rail, automotive, utilities, oil and gas and manufacturing?

He has spent most of his career working in fast-paced, technically-demanding, global businesses across multiple geographies and jurisdictions, including Texas Utilities and Hess Corporation.

Up until the end of 2013 Tranfield was the group HR director for Petrofac, an oil and gas services business. He moved to IMI, a specialist global engineer and manufacturer of fluid control products, at the start of 2014.

He has worked closely with the board on a wide programme of progressive initiatives designed to transform the business for long-term success. These have included the relaunching of key HR processes; extensive organisational and cultural change; senior succession and development; and the design of industry best practice development, reward and other programmes, again across multiple geographies.

Tranfield’s career has been characterised by successful work in complex, technical, highly-global businesses with an emphasis on emerging as well as ‘traditional' markets. In each organisation he has worked to make the HR function not only relevant but at the heart of driving sustainable business success.
