Cary Cooper was previously distinguished professor at Lancaster University, and had various roles within the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He has also been chairman of the management education and development division of the Academy of Management and was founding president of its British iteration.
Cooper was appointed president of the CIPD earlier this year and is also president of Relate and a former president of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. He was the founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Organizational Behavior.
As well as all this, Cooper is a director of wellbeing specialist Robertson Cooper, a university spin-off company that he co-founded in 1999.
In 2016 he was presented with the HR Most Influential Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into its Hall of Fame.
