Alison Clarke, group director of talent and organisational development, Mitie Group

Alison Clarke has 20 years of international experience across a range of brands, sectors and markets including utilities, retail, health and beauty, hospitality, media and manufacturing.

Alison Clarke started out as a graduate trainee at car company Ford, moving to employee relations officer and organisation development officer. She moved to the role of HR manager contracts, engineering at Thames Water before taking a head of HR role at EMI Records.

In 1997 Clarke took up her first HR director role, in a UK post at Hilton Worldwide before joining Whitbread Restaurants as HR director a couple of years later.

A stint as an organisational development consultant was followed by a role as group HR director at AS Watson, then group HR director at United Utilities. In July 2011 Clarke joined Save the Children as a consultant, then interim global human resources director before coming to outsourcing and energy services company Mitie Group as group director of talent and organisational development in April 2014.

Clarke is experienced in working with chairmen and boards on nomination and remuneration committees and has expertise in business turnarounds and rebuilds in unionised environments. She is particularly interested in leadership and talent development and organisational design.
