Worst online job sites set to be announced

The finalists for the inaugural national Wooden NORA award, which recognises the web site or recruitment service that has disappointed jobseekers the most in the last 12 months, have been announced.

Some of the largest global companies appear on the "list of shame", and the unlucky winner of the trophy will be named at the National Online Recruitment Awards (NORAs) ceremony in London on 12 November.

The finalists are: Facebook SocialJobs, Yo! Sushi, LinkedIn jobs, CraigsList and Universal JobMatch.

Stephen O'Donnell, founder and chairman of the NORAs, said: " We decided to introduce the Wooden NORA for this year not only as it is the thirteenth year of the NORAs, which is considered unlucky for some, but as there has been so much hype surrounding many big budget projects that ultimately fell flat.

"While there is an element of fun to adding this award, we are not looking to scapegoat any particular website, but rather to highlight the ways in which some otherwise professional recruitment services seem to go out of their way to thwart and frustrate jobseekers."
