Voice from the floor dress code - Reports of the death of the suit are greatly exaggerated

While the signs are that the suit is on the wane in the workplace, employees still seem to toe the traditionalist line.

While the signs are that the suit is on the wane in the workplace, employees still seem to toe the traditionalist line. While nearly two-thirds said their company still operates a dress code, (of which 35% have to wear smart clothing at all times), a whopping 73% of staff said they were happy with the way they have to dress at work. Just 21% of staff said they wanted to dress more casually, while 6% wanted to be even smarter than they currently were. Three quarters of respondents said wearing smart clothing projected a good impression and more than half disagreed with the statement 'it should not matter what people wear to work'. However, there were variations. Women were far more likely to be happier with what they have to wear for work than men (77% vs 69%), while men were most likely to believe that it should not matter how they dress (34% vs 28%).
