Stressed staff hit the bottle

Over half of employees aged between 25 and 44 have cited stress as a motivation to drink.

According to research from the Department of Health and YouGov, 45% of men and 40% of women say they drink because they are stressed.

Employees who drink excessively (more than eight units of alcohol a day for men or six units a day for women) are twice as likely to do so to ‘unwind' than those who drink safer amounts of alcohol. The latter are more likely to drink to socialise (65%).
