Staff wellbeing to be top of Rossendale Council's agenda

Rossendale Council has asked all its line managers to come up with ways to help improve staff wellbeing.

The North-West-based council also plans to run courses to educate line managers on dealing with issues such as delegating authority, resolving conflict and managing change.

All councillors will receive stress assessments and information on how to manage work- related stress.

All staff are to be educated on healthy eating, health-screening services and how to spot symptoms of some illnesses.

The council has additionally made a commitment to raise awareness of issues such as bullying, harassment, domestic violence and protecting vulnerable adults and children.

Head of people and policy at the council Liz Murphy said: "Wellbeing and performance are linked and we need our staff to be at the top of their game in order to deliver high- quality services and to drive forward our improvement agenda."
