Formerly HR director at the Wood Group, MacRae has been tasked with taking forward the recruitment firm's HR practices.
He said: "Orion Group is a growing organisation with international capabilities and I believe my skill-set will be advantageous to the company. My key strengths are my knowledge of recruitment related legislation, policy support and operational awareness.
"When it comes to HR implementation, my focus will be on operations – bringing a fresh pair of eyes and ears to the table."
The company has 3,500 UK personnel, with 1,500 worldwide on assignment at any one time.
MacRae holds a BA degree and a diploma in HR, as well as membership of professional accredited organisations. He previously worked at Subsea 7 and Halliburton. For his new post, he will be moving from Aberdeen to Inverness, where he was brought up.
