Monster launches UK's first virtual recruitment event

Employers and jobseekers can network from the comfort of the living room by logging on to Monster's Interactive Recruitment Fair.

The 24-hour service allows employers to interact with jobseekers via text and video chat, depending on the type of sponsorship. A platinum package provides access to all jobseekers' CVs and a customised exhibition booth to attract candidates. It includes employee testimonial facilities and career test results with the flexibility for members to log on at any time.

Upon registering, members enter a virtual exhibition space with 49 exhibitors and a potential 120,000 visitors from Ireland and the UK.

Careers tests provide compatibility information for candidates by steering them towards suitable jobs. It highlights their background, geographic locations, ambition and skills, which is also useful to employers.

Visitors accessed the site as of 00.01am this morning, attending the first UK virtual recruitment event. Most recruiting employers at the fair are existing Monster clients that meet the criteria of having a number of live jobs on offer.

Director of marketing at Monster Isabelle Ratinaud said: "This online fair expects to attract more than 100,000 visitors compared with physical recruitment fairs, which only manage to attract several thousand people, due to location. One of our booth holders, Google, has 71 job opportunities, which is appealing to candidates. It is also a visibility opportunity for employers."

The online event is available for two weeks from 19 to 31 October.

Last year, Monster held its first virtual fairs in France, in spring and autumn. September saw its first physical recruitment fairs, based in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London.
