London Borough of Merton staff gained 120 hours more training following launch of e-learning system

London Borough of Merton has seen an increase of 120 hours of staff training in June, following the implementation of an e-learning training programme.

The organisation launched an online training solution in January, allowing staff to undertake learning at their own pace from any location with an internet connection.

The council is working with Me Learning to implement the platform, which will reduce classroom learning, allowing staff to build up knowledge before receiving more formal training sessions.

Managers can also monitor the course to ensure all staff are completing the necessary training and check on whether they passed or failed.

The platform will make it easier for the organisation to keep its training for social care staff in line with Government legislation, as new modules can be added as time goes on.

Chloe McSweeney, information strategy manager for Merton Council, said: "All new starters are now required to take the online courses before they are given their login details so a new starter can hit the ground running.

"Investing in online training has been a learning curve for me and I am delighted to be seeing such positive results this year."
