When times get tough, the tough get going, but HR is receiving little thanks for its efforts in recession.

A major survey has shown a marked deterioration in (non-HR) line managers’ estimations of HR. In the first of our HR Vision contributions, Alison Clements has investigated the repercussions of the survey. Her article, which appears in the January edition of HR, will also go live on the HR Vision website this afternoon.

For HR Vision’s second series, we have again teamed up with Sage to showcase top-level thinkers on hot topics for 2011.

The series will bring you a series of video interviews analysing the issues affecting HR professionals and strategies throughout the year ahead. A total of seven videos will be released over the next six months, bringing key influencers to your screens.

In addition to Alison’s article, two videos are available this month:

Has HR become remote from the front line?

In this video, Tanith Dodge, HR director of Marks & Spencer and Jo Hennessy, director of research at Roffey Park Institute, discuss whether HR has become remote from line managers and what can be done to ensure that the two work more effectively together.

Re-balancing the economy

In this video, Adrienne McFarland, HR director of Sage UK and Ireland and Martin Birchall, managing director of High Fliers, discuss how science, technology, engineering and manufacturing employers can attract the best talent.

As well as these informative and thought-provoking insights to those shaping the HR environment, a wealth of case studies, whitepapers and features from the first series of HR Vision are also available.
