How to run a successful apprenticeship scheme: hear from HR’s experts now and take part in our interactive research

Missed our inaugural live HR Lunchtime Debate web show on overcoming the barriers to setting up an apprenticeship scheme?

The debate is now on-demand for two weeks and we invite you to hear from the experts and take part in our onscreen research.

With a fifth of young people are unemployed; one in 10 people aged 15-19 not in education, employment or training; and social mobility high on the agenda, the Government views apprenticeships as a vital part of the solution.

According to business secretary Vince Cable, apprenticeships are "an essential step in rebalancing our economy and building a fairer country where growth is spread evenly and opportunities are not limited to the privileged".

But organisations face many barriers to setting up an apprenticeship scheme, not least who to pick as a training organisation, how to access funding and how to avoid any legal pitfalls.

This first HR Lunchtime Debate, in conjunction with Commsight (an Opinion Matters service), brings together a panel of experts to discuss these issues and suggest solutions:

• Jason Holt, CEO of the family-owned Holts Group and founder of not-for-profit social enterprise Holt's Academy of Jewellery, who led the Government's review on Making Apprenticeships more Accessible to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, on his recommendations for increasing take up among SMEs

• James Watts, VP of HR and chief people officer for KFC UK and Ireland, one of the largest divisions of Yum Restaurant International, on how to set up a successful apprenticeship scheme within a large employer

• Harmajinder Hayre, employment partner for sponsor HR Legal Service and head of employment at Ward Hadaway, on the legal pitfalls to watch out for

You can take part in the debate through our interactive technology with onscreen research providing statistical data, feedback and insight, courtesy of Commsight.
