Dairy Crest to find jobs for staff affected by site closure

Dairy Crest has pledged to help employees find work within the company or with other employers should it decide to close its Nottingham branch.

The dairy foods manufacturer, which manufactures brands such as Utterly Butterly, Petits Filous, Frijj and Cathedral, is considering the closure of  its processing site in Nottingham, where 215 staff are based,  in January 2009.

Operational activity will transfer to Liverpool, Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire and Middlesex.

A spokesman from Dairy Crest said: "We will immediately commence a consultation process with all affected employees and trade union representatives. This process will last a minimum of 90 days. If the proposal goes ahead the company will provide a high level of support to meet any needs these employees may have. This will include setting up an on-site resource centre to help find alternative work for employees either within Dairy Crest or with other employers."
