The system will record information about members of staff, automate various administration tasks such as writing letters and contracts, and provide reports.
Staff will also be able to use the system to access their own information such as absences, holiday and appraisal dates. The system contains payroll software and will provide enhanced security for the HR department and allow a paperless flow of information.
The system, provided by ASR Computers, will replace a basic database the charity had previously used to store all HR information.
Comic Relief also intends to move down the e-recruitment route to allow applicants to apply for jobs online so their details can be put onto the system automatically.
Rebecca Hewett, HR officer at Comic Relief, said: "The advanced functionality of our new HR system will provide us with greater knowledge and understanding of staff and both improve efficiency and free-up staff time. It will also cut costs and allow us to keep costs in check."
She added: "Our ultimate goal is to replace all manual HR processes with electronic procedures to further improve efficiency."
