Bulk of hotel staff made redundant on Monday were hired by competitor on Thursday

Staff made redundant 'at a moment's notice' by one hotel in Manchester were recruited by a competitor within three days.

The Yang Sing Hotel in Manchester closed last Monday making 30 members of staff redundant instantly, but another apartment hotel in the city, Blue Rainbow Apartments (pictured), hired the bulk of the reception team by Thursday and they started training on Friday to start work behind the desk yesterday (Monday).

Will Hannah, managing director of Blue Rainbow Apartments, said: "One of our greatest assets is our staff, and we know Yang Sing Oriental felt exactly the same way about theirs. When the news was released last Monday, we were in despair for the talented team who had all lost their jobs. We're currently in a great position and hiring these experienced individuals is definitely a step in the right direction for us."
