BP sees the light with CSR

BP has improved staff morale and its CSR credentials by adding natural light to its site at Andover.

The firm initially installed tubular skylights as a means of lowering carbon emissions. But the oil giant quickly found that staff were suffering from less eyestrain and fewer headaches and that resulted in improved morale.

The skylights are accompanied by a metering system that dims or brightens the lights depending on the amount of natural light entering the building.

Ramsay MacDonald, UK retail assets manager, BP, said: "While reducing energy usage was the primary driver, the additional benefits the lights have brought have strengthened the business case for using these products across BP."
