Birmingham City Council to research with CIPD how to sustain high performance

Birmingham City Council's HR department is embarking on a research project to ascertain what businesses need to build resilient and adaptable organisations.

Working with universities and the CIPD, the council hopes the research will help individuals and teams work closer together to improve performance across the organisation.

Councillor Alan Rudge, the cabinet member responsible for equalities and HR at Birmingham City Council, said: "This is just one of the initiatives my HR department is undertaking to support our wider organisational transformation agenda. This initiative is helping my HR team provide high levels of business intelligence and planning to support the change agenda."

And Andy Albon, director of equalities and human resources at Birmingham City Council, said: "Recent experiences have shown the importance of sustainable high performance. The sustainability aspects of this project will help us better understand the factors that underpin high performance for the council workforce in the longer term."

Last month, Birmingham City Council scooped the Gold Award at the HR Excellence Awards.
