Birmingham City Council Awards recognise staff who have gone that extra mile

Birmingham City Council will hold an awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of its employees in November

The 2009 Chamberlain Awards presentation will take place on Friday 6 November at the ICC in Birmingham city centre. Now in its fifth year, the council's corporate recognition scheme aims to reward those council workers who have made a special effort in the provision of first-rate services for the local community.

There will be 10 individual and team awards presented. Council staff submitted nominations for the individual categories. The general public nominated candidates for ‘the outstanding customer service category' award.

Councillor Alan Rudge, cabinet member for equalities and human resources, said: "All of our nominees have done admirable work that has helped improve the lives of thousands of people who live and work in the city."

Rudge chaired the judging panel that convened in July to select the finalists.
