Working in partnership with the Department of Health, the supermarket is informing staff they are four times more likely to quit smoking with NHS support and will hold anti-smoking sessions with staff at stores and depots.
Asda-branded ‘quit kits' are being distributed to staff, including motivational calendars and diagrams of the health benefits of not smoking. There will also be features in Asda's in-house magazine.
David Smith, people director at the retailer, said: "The most poignant of our feel-good initiatives is our smoke free campaign, in partnership with the Department of Health which is working with major employers to offer employees a programme of NHS support aiming to ensure they are successful when they make an attempt to quit."
