Plans for the £8.5 million centre near Dundee have been axed because it is not expected to be efficient enough for the organisation's needs.
A spokeswoman told HR magazine: "We reviewed the possibility of building a new training centre at this site. However, when we examined cost against the small number of extra soldiers that it would produce (200), it was decided this would not represent good value for money."
New recruits will now be absorbed through the normal systems, although the number of training courses will be increased.
The Infantry Training Centre at Catterick, North Yorkshire, is planning to run two additional combat infantryman courses (CICs) to start in June and July, each with 144 recruits. A further four courses are planned for the Army's Initial Training Regiment at Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire.
The news comes as the Army opens a hi-tech recruitment showroom in Hounslow, west London, today complete with battlefield simulators. This follows the opening of a similar showroom in Hackney, east London, last month.
