Allen & Overy promotes diversity in its graduate recruitment strategy

International law firm Allen & Overy has taken steps to enhance the diversity element of its graduate recruitment campaign.

The firm is working with graduate diversity consultancy Rare to target graduates from ethnic minority groups, in particular Black African and Caribbean backgrounds, for its winter and summer vacation schemes, open days and training contract opportunities.

With approximately 5,000 staff working across 39 offices in 26 countries worldwide, Allen & Overy is one of the largest law firms in the world, both by number of lawyers and revenue.

Rare specialises in placing exceptional graduates from diverse backgrounds in professional jobs or work experience programmes at the world’s leading firms.

Working closely with candidates, Rare provides support during the application and internship process, and uses interviews, programmes, assessments and events to prepare them as much as possible.

Caroline Lindner, graduate recruitment manager at Allen & Overy said: “Attracting the best and most diverse candidates is a business imperative for Allen & Overy. We are a global business, which relies on recruiting the most exceptional people from the broadest range of backgrounds, cultures and nationalities to best serve our clients.

“By working with Rare, we are showing our commitment to getting those people from the broadest pool of candidates possible.”
