Up front: Work stats - The gender gap is wide in HR pay

The HR function does not seem to be practising what it is preaching.

A new study by union GMB shows there is a worryingly large gender paygap in the profession. Figures were drawn from the Office of NationalStatistic's Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings:

58% is the difference between the average annual salary of male andfemale full-time personnel, training or industrial relations managers.This is almost double the UK average gender pay gap. A typical malemanager in the HR profession can expect to earn an average annual salaryof 62,461. A female holding the same position can only expect toearn only 45,029, which is 30% less.

33% is the gap between a male personnel officer and his femaleequivalent, with men earning an average of 35,028 and womenaveraging 25,183.
